Fischnetz With Benefits on German TV 📺🐟

Hoi everyone 👋

We had a very exciting moment: Fischnetz With Benefits was featured on WDR Servicezeit, a German consumer TV show.

The episode was all about alternatives to the classic kitchen sponge. And yes, our Fischnetz was probably the most unusual one in the mix.

It was not just shown nicely on a table. It was actually tested in a real kitchen situation: a pot with dried, sticky cheesy pasta leftovers 🍝

A proper little kitchen challenge.

A real-life kitchen test

What we liked about the test: it was honest.

At first, some of the food residue got caught in the net. And honestly, that can happen. A Fischnetz is not a soft yellow sponge. It is not foam. It is not pretending to be something smooth and perfect.

It is a piece of old fishing net.

Loose, open, a bit wild, and surprisingly strong 💪

That is exactly what makes it interesting in the kitchen. You can scrub with it, rinse it out, hang it up, and let it dry quickly. In the WDR test, the pot ended up clean. So yes, even sticky pasta leftovers did not win this round ✨

And if the net needs a quick rinse afterwards? That is part of the deal. Real kitchens are not always picture-perfect. Sometimes they are full of pots, crumbs, sauce, and little experiments.

Not plastic-free. But with benefits.

One point from the TV segment was especially important to us: our Fischnetz is made from plastic. It is not biodegradable.

And we do not want to hide that.

For us, this was never about making new plastic sound good. It is about giving existing material a second life. Old fishing nets can become waste. They can end up where they should never be: in the ocean, on beaches, or forgotten somewhere after use 🌊

We take part of that material and turn it into something useful again.

A long-lasting alternative to disposable kitchen sponges.

That is the benefit.

A Fischnetz is not something you throw away after a few days or weeks. It is made to last. The longer we use things, the less we need to constantly buy, package, ship, and throw away.

The TV segment also touched on plastic abrasion. For us, the key message is simple: long use matters. A product that stays in your kitchen for a long time can replace many conventional sponges over its lifetime.

The conclusion

Is a Fischnetz perfect? No.

Is it plastic-free? Also no.

But it is honest, practical, long-lasting, and made from material that already exists. It does not look like a normal sponge, and that is exactly the point.

Sometimes a better everyday product does not have to be new, polished, or perfect.

Sometimes it looks like an old fishing net 🐟

And that is exactly why we love it.
